There are 4 main ways to get from Geneva to Tignes: private taxi, public transport, shared transfer or hire car. Shared transfers are the most affordable and environmentally friendly option. The transfer time from Geneva Airport to Tignes Le Lac is about 3 hours 20 minutes on an average Saturday during the winter ski season. The distance is 174 km. The transfer time obviously depends on the date, the time of day, weather and the traffic conditions. More time is given for the journey during busy periods, such as during the French school holidays.
Our drivers are local to the area and experienced in driving in snowy conditions. They usually take the most direct route from Geneva to Tignes, via the A41 motorway, the N90 road through Annecy, and then the D902 mountain road up to Tignes.

The Tignes Tourist Office map of the resort can help you find where your accommodation is in relation to our stops. The free shuttle buses depart from, or very close to, all of the Ben’s Bus stops.

WEEKDAYS: We don’t have any buses from any airport to Tignes on weekdays.

The best way to get from Geneva Airport to Tignes is on a direct shared transfer. They are cheaper and more environmentally friendly than private transfers, and they are more convenient than public transport, which will involve at least one connection.
A shared transfer avoids the hassle of booking and picking up a hire car, driving on wintry mountain roads and trying to find a parking spot in Tignes (and paying for it).

How Much Does A Transfer From Geneva Airport To Tignes Cost?
The transfer from Geneva Airport to Tignes usually takes about 3 hours 20 minutes,, depending on the traffic and weather. The journey can take longer during busy periods, particularly at Christmas, New Year and during French February school holidays. Between around 8am - 3pm the roads, depending on which direction you're driving, can get extremely congested between Moutiers and Bourg St Maurice. This is because the road narrows to 1 lane at times and this road services so many ski resorts, such as Les Arcs, La Plagne and Val d'Isere.
The distance from Geneva Airport to Tignes is 174 km. This depends on the route you take. The experienced, local Ben's Bus drivers usually take the shortest (and quickest) route via the D1508 through Annecy. This avoids the congestion that can build around the Chambery péages (tolls) on the A41 motorway.
Ben's Bus has a stop in all of the 4 main Tignes resorts. All of our stops are positioned somewhere safe, with decent onward transport options by way of the frequent, free in-resort shuttle buses. Some of these buses, known as 'navettes' in French, run 24 hours a day. We have stops at the bus station of Tignes Val Claret, the bus station of Tignes Le Lac (which can be used if you are staying in Le Lavachet), at the bus stop on the roundabout at Tignes 1800 and in the main parking area of Tignes Les Brevieres. A bus station in French is called a 'Gare Routiere'.
